Cannabis and Psychosis: Explore the Link

Cannabis and Psychosis: Explore the Link is a project of the Schizophrenia Society of Canada. The aim of the project is to increase awareness and understanding of the relationship between cannabis use and psychosis. Featuring the latest scientific research and the insights and perspectives of young people with lived experience, the aim of the site is to provide comprehensive and accessible information to help young people better understand the issue so they can make informed decisions about cannabis use.

The current website builds on an earlier youth-centred research project that explored the connections between youth psychosis and cannabis. Launched in 2009, the Cannabis and Psychosis: Exploring the Link project actively engaged youth in efforts to better understand the perspectives of their peers who used cannabis and also experienced psychosis.

The award-winning project  generated important information about the reasons young people use, their lived experience, and what they felt was important to communicate to other youth about key issues relating to cannabis and psychosis.
